AWA consists of some standard Issues and Arguments. There are 244 topics.  Students are expected to prepare from these 244 only and give their AWA section.

Exam Cost
GRE Exam cost is $ 170.  In order to reschedule the exam, it will cost $ 50.  Cancellation of Exam date will result in a deduction of $ 85.  Rescheduling or Cancellation should be done prior to 10 days of the Examination date.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a compulsory English test conducted for every student from non-English speaking country looking for overseas education in English speaking countries like, USA, UK, etc. It is a test conducted for assessing the fundamental abilities in English and is accepted by over 6000 colleges and universities in 110 countries. This is over 3 times the number of any other English-language proficiency test. The test is administered in 180 countries at more than 1275 test sites. A TOEFL score is valid for two years and then is deleted from the official database. The maximum score for Internet based TOEFL (Computer Based TOEFL) is 120.
Difference between Internet and Paper based Tests:
TOEFL IBT measures reading, listening, speaking and writing skills and takes approximately 4½ hours. It is given on computer 30-40 times a year at test centers throughout  the        world.

TOEFL PBT measures listening, structure (grammar), reading and writing and takes approximately 3½ hours. It is given using paper and pencil 6 times a year at test centers where TOEFL IBT is not available.

IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. IELTS is required for entry to university in United States and other countries.

Who is it for?
IELTS is recognized by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. It is also recognized by professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies. More than 700,000 people a year take the test.

What is the IELTS test like?
You can choose between the Academic or General Training versions of the test. All candidates do the same Listening and Speaking sections.
The test has four sections:

  1. Listening - 4 sections, 40 questions, 30 minutes
  2. Speaking - interview, 15 minutes
  3. Reading - different for Academic or General Training - 3 sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes
  4. Writing - different for Academic or General Training - 2 pieces of writing, 60 minutes

Multi-level. You get a score between 1 and 9. Half scores such as 6.5 are possible. Universities often demand an IELTS score of 6 or 7. They may also demand a minimum score in each of the 4 sections.

Where do I take the test?
IELTS tests are administered at accredited Test Centers throughout the world - there are currently more than 300 Centers, in over 120 countries..

What is the computer-based test?
At some centers you can take the computer-based version of IELTS. This is only available for academic modules at some centers only.

When can I take the test?
Arrange with your closest test centre. There are frequent dates, usually on Thursdays or Saturdays.

How much does it cost to take IELTS?
Fees are set by test centers. Expect to pay around £90 GBP or $140 USD. Depending on various English language requirements, individual universities, organizations and countries decide which IELTS band score is suitable for their applicants.

The Scholastic Aptitude Test is a mandatory test for students who wish to gain admission to Bachelor's programs in US. The SAT is classified into two tests:

The SAT Reasoning Test (formerly SAT I)
The SAT Subject Test (formerly SAT II)

Students planning to take admission to US Universities in the year 2006 will undertake the SAT tests with a new format.

The new SAT I will contain 3 sections: Critical Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.

The Writing section
The writing section will measure the test takers ability to organize and structure the essay, ability to express his/her opinion lucidly and language usage.
